Reset Your Mind to Renew Your Life

Building a flywheel of success for life and career

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." — Romans 12:2

As we grow up, our parents, culture, and society shape how we view life — from parenting and marriage to money, success, and friendships. Without realizing it, many of our beliefs are molded more by the world than by the Word of God. But Paul, writing to the Romans, calls us to something higher: we must evaluate these values and renew our minds by God's Word so that we are transformed.

Take the examples of money and sex.
The world treats money as sacred — wealthy people are admired, and conversations about income are taboo. On the other hand, the world treats sex casually, encouraging promiscuity even within committed relationships (sometimes jokingly through ideas like a "free pass list").
But Scripture flips this entirely: money is to be shared generously, and sex is to be protected as sacred within marriage. God's design invites us to be generous with money and faithful in intimacy, reflecting His heart in both areas.

This principle holds true in corporate life too. Popular best practices or trends may not align with your unique context. You need to evaluate those practices against your budget, people, and cultural settings and adapt what is suitable for you. Otherwise there will be only disaster.

True transformation happens when we let God's Word shape what we think, what we value, and how we live.

# Action Items:

  1. List 3 beliefs or assumptions you currently hold about success, identity, or purpose. (Example: "Success means constant growth," "Self-worth comes from my career.")
  2. Reflect and journal: Are these beliefs aligned with God’s Word or with worldly values? (Use specific Scriptures to examine them — like Matthew 6:33, Jeremiah 29:11, etc.)
  3. Choose one mindset to actively replace this week with a biblical truth. (Write down a verse that counters the old belief and meditate on it daily.)
