A Refreshing Mini Vacation: Family, Fun, and Food
A quick family getaway to Shivjot Resorts: cozy stay, fun games, delicious food, and quality time without screens.
This weekend (19th Jan 2025), we went on a mini vacation. Now, when I say mini vacation, I mean we left around 11 o'clock after our Sunday church service and returned by 4 o'clock on Monday. Just a quick getaway, really! We headed to Shivjot Resorts, which is a mere 20 minutes from our house.
We stayed in a cozy bamboo hut, just the four of us: my wife, our two boys, and me. Since we arrived on a Sunday, the place was relatively quiet, with only about three other families around. But over the weekend, it seems the resort had been filled with guests. We had the entire 10-acre property mostly to ourselves, which felt like a treat from heaven.
# Sun, Songs, and oh my, sweet peace
I spent a lot of my time walking in the sun and diving into my reading. In just a day and a half, I managed to read the entire book of Revelation from the Bible. Between the birdsong and the warm sunshine, it was the perfect backdrop for some good old-fashioned soul-searching and prayer time.
Meanwhile, my boys were busy with their guitars, strumming away and practicing new songs. We stumbled across a gaming area where we played foosball, taking turns to play with each other and yelling victory shouts. It was a blast! We even squeezed in a bit of ping pong. My wife took the opportunity to record some videos for her new YouTube channel.
The food was delicious! They served up tasty butter chicken, tikka masala, and lachha paratha. Every meal was a treat. We spent a lot of time just enjoying each other's company, chatting, and savoring the lovely atmosphere of the resort.
What I loved most about this trip was how refreshing it felt. I barely touched my phone; it mostly stayed in the room while I wandered around the property. The kids also left their phones behind, which made our time together even more special. It was a fun, relaxing getaway that left us all feeling rejuvenated and connected as a family.
